january 1978 was a fruitful month for sun ra. as well as days spent in the recording studios in rome, ra, along with john gilmore, michael ray and luqman ali, played several gigs in italy before flying back to the us. the magic music from one night in the teatro cilak, on 23/01/1978 in milan, is preserved on disco 3000. disco 3000 is arguably among the most important documents of sun ras long musical career, are now once more available in a limited edition!

stroke typifies the twisted darkness so prevalent in italian techno right now. constructed from a tight stripped back groove of low-humming bass and booming kicks the track bounces along against a off-kilter backdrop of acid ripped effects. a legend in techno, rino cerrone makes a welcome return to analytic trail with his remix. taking the late night feel of the original and evolving it over a tight shuffling groove the effect is to accentuate the warped vibe and discreet energy.
